3. Water Treatment
The right water is the key!
Even if it appears clear and pure and is perfectly suitable for use as drinking water, untreated water is still unsuitable for air humidification systems in many cases. This is because of the large number of substances in water whose composition and concentration can cause considerable problems: lime dust, electrochemical metal corrosion, blocked atomiser nozzles, damp surfaces and germs in the air you breathe are all hazards of untreated water.
This is why DRAABE's integrated water treatment system provides optimised pure water through a multi-stage process and meets all the requirements for trouble-free operation and maximum health protection. The water circuit is completely sealed so that contact with ambient air and the germs and dust it contains is impossible.
The DRAABE multi-stage water treatment process
Stage 1
The first step in the DRAABE water treatment process is softening. The substances in water that are instrumental in the formation of limescale (calcium and magnesium) are replaced with highly soluble sodium salts.
Stage 2
During this phase, the treated soft water is purified by two-stage mechanical filtering: An activated charcoal filter binds chlorine compounds, organic sources of contamination, pesticide residues and other chemical compounds. Suspended particles and impurities such as dirt, rust and sand particles larger than 5 thousandths of a mm are caught in the microfilter.
Stage 3
The softened, filtered water then flows into the heart of the DRAABE water treatment system - the DRAABE PerPur pure water system.
DRAABE's PerPur pure water system uses a high-quality membrane separation technology to produce almost completely demineralised and germ-free pure water. Demineralisation occurs on the principle of reverse osmosis: the water containing mineral salts is forced through a semi-permeable coiled membrane with the aid of a pump. Mineral substances and organic residues like fungi and bacteria are retained, concentrated in the inlet chamber and routed off to the drainage system in the form of a concentrate. With a residual salt content of 2 to 3%, the pure water produced is ideal for humidification.
Stage 4
If a DRAABE high-pressure nozzle system is used, the treated pure water now passes into the DRAABE HighPur high-pressure system.
A special DRAABE bio-reactor employs an additional effect-monitored UV-C irradiator to ensure that even the last remaining germs in the feed water are killed.
The pure water is therefore perfectly prepared for humidification; it is atomised without a drip and is free from lime dust, bacteria and germs.
