Keeping the air healthy!

Employees have to feel good at work. A modern workplace setup has a positive effect on motivation, efficiency and health. Maintaining the right level of humidity has a significant influence on health and well-being in the office and protects employees against illness.

Benefits of air humidification:

  • Quicker self-cleaning of the mucous membranes
  • Reduced transmission of influenza viruses
  • Protection against losing one's voice
  • Less eye irritation
  • Reduced levels of respirable dust
  • Improved skin protective function
  • Less electrostatic charge
  • Pleasant, fresh, comfortable climate
  • Additional cooling effect in the summer

Intensive work with computer screens, activities involving lots of talking and overheated offices can lead to significant health problems when combined with room humidity levels that are too low. Especially in the winter months, infections of the respiratory tract, difficulties swallowing, sore throats and burning eyes are common symptoms.

Current research shows that the immune defence of mucus membranes is also heavily dependent upon the room humidity level. When humidity levels are low, the expulsion of microorganisms from the respiratory tract is reduced. A sufficiently high air humidity of at least 30%, or even better 45%, is needed to clear the respiratory tract quickly and efficiently, thereby reducing susceptibility to infectious illnesses.

To make office and work areas comfortable, a relative humidity of between 40% and 60% is recommended.
